Officials from the Village of Penn Yan and the Town of Benton will hold a joint public hearing next month to consider the proposed annexation of a 12.8-acre parcel currently outside the village limits.
The hearing is scheduled for June 25 at 6:00 p.m. at the Penn Yan Village Hall, located at 111 Elm Street. The property in question, currently owned by Yates Cultural and Recreational Resources, Inc., sits on the easterly side of North Main Street and is designated as tax map parcel no. 49.02-1-1.113.
If approved by both municipal boards, the annexation would bring the land—currently within the Town of Benton—into the jurisdiction of the Village of Penn Yan. The parcel is contiguous with the village’s northern boundary and is currently undeveloped.
The hearing provides an opportunity for all interested residents to voice their opinions on the proposed annexation. Copies of the annexation petition are available for public review at the offices of the Penn Yan Village Clerk and the Benton Town Clerk during regular business hours, as well as online at www.villageofpennyan.com.
Those requiring accommodations to participate in the hearing are encouraged to contact the Village Clerk’s Office at least five business days in advance.
