A traffic stop in the Town of Victory resulted in a criminal contempt arrest after deputies said a man was with someone he was ordered to stay away from.

Charles H. Kirk, 43, of Victory, was arrested May 28 and charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor.

According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle around 10:32 p.m. at Broadway Road and Pople Road. During the investigation, they discovered Kirk was violating a full stay-away order of protection by having the protected person in the car with him.

Kirk was arraigned in CAP Court the following morning and held at the Cayuga County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Victory Town Court on June 4 at 6 p.m.
