Auburn will continue providing emergency medical services to the town of Owasco for another year, according to The Citizen. The renewed agreement includes a $250,000 payment and guarantees an ambulance stationed at the local firehouse 12 hours a day.
City officials praised the regional partnership, which helped fill gaps after private ambulance services left the area. Auburn City Ambulance responded to over 200 calls in Owasco since June 2024, with an average response time of just over eight minutes.
Owasco Supervisor Ed Wagner called the deal a smart investment, citing ongoing staffing challenges for volunteer EMS. With growing call volumes and a reliable partner in Auburn, both communities see regionalization as the path forward.
