A Rochester man was arrested early Thursday morning after an armed standoff with New York State Troopers on the Thruway in Monroe County.
Anthony J. Caceres, 31, was taken into custody around 2:45 a.m. on May 29 after allegedly pointing a firearm at a Trooper during a confrontation near mile marker 358 in Pittsford, according to State Police.
Troopers responded to a report of a vehicle off the roadway and found a 2019 Ford Mustang matching the description. Caceres, the driver, refused to provide identification and became verbally combative, police said. When Troopers approached the vehicle a second time, one officer observed what appeared to be a gun barrel pressed against the driver’s side window and aimed at him.
Troopers took cover and called for backup. After a brief standoff, Caceres surrendered without further incident. No injuries were reported.
He was processed at SP Rochester and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, menacing a police officer, and second-degree obstruction of governmental administration. The investigation is ongoing.
