A man was arrested Wednesday morning after robbing Lyons National Bank and attempting to flee with a large sum of money.
Authorities identified the suspect as 39-year-old Audie A. Arliss, who was taken into custody on May 28 near the bank at 2 Forgham Street in Lyons. According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived quickly at the scene and apprehended Arliss as he tried to leave the area.
Deputies said Arliss had cash in his possession and was wearing clothing that matched descriptions given by witnesses. He was charged with one count of third-degree robbery and two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny.
Arliss was transported to CAP Court for arraignment. The case will be forwarded to the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
The New York State Police assisted in the response. The investigation is ongoing.
