Palmyra flag pole restored in time for Memorial Day

A damaged Palmyra landmark is flying proudly again thanks to a local business owner. According to the Times of Wayne County, Jim Blazey and his team repaired the town’s 40-year-old steel flag pole just ahead of the holiday.

High winds had bent the top section, leaving the pole unusable. Blazey, along with employees Rob Spry and Hayden Kier, rented equipment to remove the damaged section. Iron Arc Welding of Palmyra helped complete the fix, restoring the pole in time for Memorial Day.

Blazey said the effort honors his grandfather, who once handled similar repairs. He sees it as a duty to keep the flag flying for the community.
