Lockheed Martin Owego lands $18.8M Navy contract

Lockheed Martin’s Owego facility has secured an $18.8 million defense contract from the U.S. Department of the Navy, a move expected to bolster both national security efforts and the Southern Tier’s economy.

The contract will fund the purchase of 25 Digital Magnetic Anomaly Detection (DMAD) hardware kits, along with related program management services. The project is scheduled for completion by January 2027.

“This is a tremendous win for Lockheed Martin Owego and the hardworking men and women of the Southern Tier,” said Congressman Nick Langworthy, who announced the award on July 25. “This investment not only strengthens our national defense capabilities—it fuels our local economy, supports good-paying jobs, and reinforces the critical role our region plays in keeping America safe.”

The Owego site remains a key hub for advanced defense technology, continuing its long-standing role as a trusted partner of the U.S. military.
