Wayne-Finger Lakes high school sports: May 22 scoreboard

Postseason play ramped up across Section V on a rainy Thursday in the Wayne-Finger Lakes, while regular-season action wrapped up in boys and girls lacrosse.

Canandaigua’s Tyler Christopher and Mick Schaeffer teamed up for a four-hit shutout in a Class AA baseball win, and Bloomfield rolled to a comfortable first-round victory in Class C1.


In boys lacrosse, Geneva’s Ryland Dunham scored five goals to power the Panthers, while Newark’s Sam Underhill erupted for nine goals. On the girls’ side, Allison Marquart recorded seven points in Geneva’s narrow win, and Canandaigua edged Spencerport in a tight battle.

The game was suspended in the top of the fourth inning due to rain with the Blue Devils holding a 4-1 lead over the Rangers. Play is scheduled to resume on Friday.

The Gray Wolves earned the shutout win behind strong pitching from Tyler Christopher and Mick Schaeffer, who combined for a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Cole Harris led the offense with three hits, while Christopher and Griffin Kierst each added a double.

Cole Sharkey paced the Rams offense, going 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, and an RBI. Duke Wright added two singles, a walk, and two RBI. Adam Doll and Isaiah Cleveland each walked and came around to score, while Owen Donnelly pitched the first three innings before Sharkey and Wright came on in relief. Donnelly and Kyler Parmeter also drew walks to contribute at the plate.

Max Waldron led the way for the Golden Eagles, tossing a complete game with eight strikeouts. Spencer Bloomer singled, walked, and scored a run, while Derek Cole and Aiden Grinnell each added a base hit. Dain Brisky chipped in with an RBI, and both Waldron and Connor Salerno reached base via walks.
