Representatives from several towns met to reopen discussions on the “Odessa Area Fire District,” a plan that failed earlier this year. The proposal would replace current contract fees with tax-based funding and expand voter input on major spending decisions.
Supporters say the district could unlock new funding for equipment and broaden administrative representation. Despite the debate, officials stress that fire protection services will continue regardless of the district’s fate.
