Two Finger Lakes communities will welcome former New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio as the keynote speaker for Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday, May 26.

Nozzolio, now Chairman of the Friends of the NY State Veterans Cemetery–Finger Lakes, will speak at events in both Ovid and Romulus. He was invited to deliver the keynote address at the NYS Veterans Cemetery–Finger Lakes by Commissioner Viviana DeCohen of the New York State Department of Veterans Services. That ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the cemetery in Romulus.

Recognized as the driving force behind the creation of the state’s first official veterans cemetery, Nozzolio continues to lead fundraising efforts aimed at enhancing the site. “It is indeed an honor to be asked to speak at these events, each honoring those brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice to insure the freedoms we enjoy today in America,” said Nozzolio.

Earlier in the day, he will speak at the Memorial Day ceremony in Ovid’s Three Bears Park at 11:30 a.m. A parade honoring veterans will begin at 11:00 a.m., starting from South Seneca High School and ending at the firehouse on Brown Street.
