Construction has begun on Newfield Central School District’s $21 million capital project, aimed at boosting safety and infrastructure, according to Tompkins Weekly.
Work includes major renovations to the bus garage, security upgrades at both schools, and resurfacing the track and field. The district is also installing drainage, adding electric bus charging stations, and upgrading PA systems across campus.
The project, set to finish by summer 2026, will also expand parking, improve driveways, and enhance outdoor sports facilities. Officials say early progress and under-budget bids could allow for even more safety-focused upgrades.
