Emergency crews responded to an active structure fire on Cherry Street in Lyons on Tuesday. Initial reports indicated that animals were trapped inside, however, that had not been confirmed as of Wednesday morning.
The fire was visible from a distance. “Fire can see header from Hall,” one Facebook poster said, indicating the heavy smoke column seen from the road.
Multiple departments were involved in the response. Wallington was requested to provide an engine and crew to stand by for Lyons. Newark Fire Department was also dispatched. Oaks Corners Fire also assisted, standing by at the Lyons station.
The fire remains under investigation at this time.
