A man died Tuesday evening when a tractor overturned into a creek along a rural road in the Town of Starkey.
Authorities identified the driver as Mark C. Collins, 75, of Dundee, New York.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched at 5:01 p.m. to the scene on State Route 14a. According to the agency’s press release, Collins had been backing the tractor around a culvert when the vehicle went too close to the edge. It flipped and landed in a creek, leaving Collins unresponsive on the ground.
Emergency crews from the Dundee Fire Department and Yates County Ambulance administered medical treatment at the scene. Collins was taken to Schuyler Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The Yates County Office of Emergency Management also assisted at the scene.
