A new support group aimed at building community and connection among mothers is launching next month at UR Medicine Thompson Health in Canandaigua.
Dubbed “The Milk Bar,” the group is described as “a safe and nurturing space designed for moms to come together, share experiences, and support one another on their motherhood journey.” The program is open to all moms, regardless of their feeding choices, and welcomes babies and children up to age 2.
Courtney Stuhlman, a lactation consultant at Thompson Health, will host the group’s meetings, which begin Wednesday, June 4. The first session will take place from 10 a.m. to noon in the Birthing Center classroom on the hospital’s second floor at 350 Parrish St.
The Milk Bar will continue meeting on the first Wednesday of each month. Organizers say the group is designed to foster open dialogue and shared understanding between mothers navigating the challenges and joys of early parenting.
