Wayne-Finger Lakes high school sports: May 19 scoreboard

A full slate of Wayne-Finger Lakes spring sports action brought standout performances across baseball, softball, lacrosse, and flag football on Monday.

Alan Plummer fanned 16 batters to lead Mynderse baseball past Waterloo in a classic pitchers’ duel, while Palmyra-Macedon erupted for 14 runs in a dominant win over Geneva. On the softball field, Bloomfield swept a doubleheader against Palmyra-Macedon to move to 16-1, and Dundee/Bradford rode a strong outing from Adalyn Tham to beat South Seneca/Romulus.

In lacrosse, Griffin Hilimire totaled eight points in a win for Mynderse/Romulus, and Victor’s girls cruised to a victory behind multiple three-goal efforts. Flag football saw East Rochester upset top-seeded Bishop Kearney in the quarterfinal round.

Evan DeWispelaere struck out 10 and allowed just three hits over 6.1 innings to lead the Cougars to a narrow win over the Golden Eagles. DeWispelaere also drove in a run, while Tommy Mills and Cody Crane each had two hits to pace the offense. Jace Paylor led Clyde-Savannah with two RBI, and Dain Brisky added a hit and two stolen bases.

The Marauders picked up a tight win behind a complete-game effort from Myles Wurtz, who allowed three earned runs on nine hits while also scoring a run. Devin Allen led the offense with two hits and two RBI, while Caiden Watson added a hit, two runs, two RBI, and a stolen base. Charlie Walter chipped in with a 2-for-3 day and a run scored. Henry Shutts struck out nine in a complete-game outing for the Blue Panthers and added a hit and a run scored.

Tino LoPresto gave the Red Raiders a nice outing on the mound, allowing just one unearned run over six innings with seven strikeouts. Camron Quick picked up four hits in four at-bats with an RBI. Gavin Everts went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Jordan Goff and Noah DaPolito contributed RBI.

Ethan D’Archangelo led the Mustangs on the hill, tossing 5.1 innings and allowing just one earned run while striking out six. Tyler Gilbert had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a run scored. Jayden Brown added two hits and a run, and Logan Miller chipped in with a 2-for-5 effort and a run to help fuel the offense.

Hunter Jacoby pitched a complete game to lead the Big Green Machines past the BraveScots. The right-hander allowed just five hits, no walks, and two unearned runs while striking out three. Grady Grove drove in two runs and scored once, while Wilhelm Schmitt added an RBI and a run. Jeremy Stiles struck out 14 over 6.1 innings for Dundee/Bradford, and Clay Gleason went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Caleb Semans chipped in with an RBI for the home team.

Mynderse (8-7) 1

Alan Plummer was dominant on the mound for the Blue Devils, striking out 16 and allowing just three hits in a complete-game shutout. The game’s only run came in the fifth inning when Michael Miller delivered an RBI single to score Matt Bogart. Jeremiah Furman also singled for Mynderse. Despite a strong outing from Xander Rogers, who struck out 12 and gave up only two hits, the Tigers couldn’t push a run across.

Aidan Twist fired five scoreless for the Eagles while allowing just one hit and striking out eight. Park Holtz followed with two shutout frames to lock down the win. Caleb Celso, Michael Grasso, Gehrig Locker each drove in a run.

Ryan Malanowski, Dylan Mayall, and Jahdiel Marrero each had multi-hit games for the Wolves, with Malanowski driving in the only run for the road team.

Sam Dufour struck out five over three scoreless innings and went 2-for-2 at the plate with three runs scored and two stolen bases to lead the Falcons a win. Bryce Racono added a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. Emmanuel Whitley contributed two hits and an RBI.

The Spartans powered past the Wildcats with a dominant offensive showing and a strong outing from Wade DeRue, who allowed just one earned run over four innings while striking out four. Braydn Orbaker led the charge at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Cooper Ingersoll also tallied three hits, two runs, and two RBI, while Austin Cincinello and Gauge Johnson each drove in a pair. Garrett Barron and Evan Laird added speed on the basepaths, combining for four runs and four stolen bases.

Ashlyn Wright turned in another gem in the circle, allowing just three hits and striking out five in a shutout performance. Marlee Poole led the offense with a 2-for-3 effort, driving in two runs and scoring once, while Loghan Nowak added two RBI. Celia Falsone and Brianna Leitten each chipped in with an RBI and a run scored. The Red Raiders were limited offensively, with Briana VanHaneghan taking the loss in the circle and collecting one of the team’s two hits.

Marlee Poole drove in the game-winning run with a single in the fourth inning, giving the Bombers the doubleheader sweep of the Red Raiders.

Bella Smart went the distance in the circle for the Golden Eagles but allowed 10 earned runs on 11 hits and issued 13 walks. Taylor Record and Madelyn Larsen each recorded a hit and an RBI in the loss.

Lydia McKay earned the win in the circle for Marion/Gananda, allowing five hits and striking out four over five innings. Lexi Phamisith led the offense with a home run and two RBI, while Kalli Meyer added a two-run single. Raegan Quigley went 3-for-5 in the strong offensive showing.

The BraveScots used a balanced offensive effort and strong pitching to take care of the Falcons. Adalyn Tham earned the win with six solid innings, striking out seven while allowing no earned runs. Morgan Sutryk led the offense with two hits and an RBI, while also tossing a perfect inning of relief with two strikeouts. Alexis Rosno, Maddie Knapp, and Reese Simpson each added an RBI, and all eight Dundee/Bradford runs were unearned.

Kenzie Turner struck out nine over five innings to lead the Screaming Eagles past the Mustangs. She allowed six hits and two walks while also contributing two RBI and two runs scored. Emma LaBour added a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in a run while scoring twice. Mia McMahon chipped in with a single, two runs, and two RBI. Penn Yan was led by Leah Prather’s perfect 3-for-3 day and Abigail Fischer’s RBI double.

Isabella Burlew took the loss for the Blue Devils after surrendering 11 runs (eight earned) in three innings. Haley Young did a nice job in relief, tossing four innings of one-run ball. Kyah Lajewski registered two with an RBI in the loss.

The Bombers pulled off the upset thanks to a late interception from Mia Rountree. Alex LaBounty led the Bombers with two touchdown passes and 10 flag pulls, while Lily Chambers-Silva hauled in both scores. Payton Kinney contributed on both sides of the ball with two extra-point catches and nine flag pulls. East Rochester will face Batavia in the semifinals on Thursday.

GOLF

The Mynderse boys golf team took down Dansville in their Class B sectional quarterfinal match at Brae Burn Golf Club. The Co-Medalist for Mynderse were Harrison Wirth and Brandt Schweitz with 41’s. Griffin Hilimire shot 42 and Matthew Bogart carded a 46 to round out the scoring for the Blue Devils. Mynderse will face the winner of the Livonia vs. Penn Yan match in the Class B semifinals.
