Volunteers invited to brighten downtown Auburn with flowers

  • Staff Report

Auburn’s annual Flower Planting Day returns this Saturday, May 17, as volunteers gather to help beautify the heart of the city with fresh blooms.

Organized by the Auburn Downtown BID, the event starts at 9 a.m. on the Genesee Street side of the Exchange Street Plaza, between Mesa Grande and Café 108. Participants will work rain or shine to fill downtown parks and street planters with colorful flowers.

The initiative uses EarthPlanter self-watering planters, which are made locally in Auburn. The event is supported by the City of Auburn, Wegmans, Chemung Canal Trust Company, the Equal Rights Heritage Center, and the Auburn Beautification Commission.
