Wayne-Finger Lakes high school sports: May 14 scoreboard

Lyons softball continued its dominant season behind Keira Weber’s one-hit shutout and 12 strikeouts, while also getting big offensive contributions from Addison VanLare and Baylei Reed in a lopsided win over East Rochester. 

In baseball, Kaiden Baker delivered a walk-off hit to lift Lyons over South Seneca/Romulus on senior night, and Sam Clark went 3-for-3 with a homer in Canandaigua’s shutout win over Geneva.


On the lacrosse field, Maci Mueller’s six goals led Waterloo girls past Newark/Midlakes, and Myah Herron scored five times to help Mynderse/Romulus top Marcus Whitman. Palmyra-Macedon also cruised to victory behind a balanced offensive attack

Keira Weber dominated in the circle for the Lions, tossing a one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts and no walks over five innings. She also contributed at the plate with three RBI, while Addison VanLare added three RBI of her own and stole two bases. Baylei Reed led the offense with a perfect 4-for-4 day, and Lyons racked up 15 hits and six walks in a well-rounded performance. The team broke the game open with a seven-run second inning and added five more in the third.

In a high-scoring extra-inning thriller, the Blue Devils outlasted the Tigers thanks to a balanced offensive surge and a five-run eighth inning. Cheyenne Mangum and Haley Young each went 4-for-5 at the plate, combining for five runs and two stolen bases, while Hannah O’Brien launched a home run and drove in two. Waterloo was led by Haylee Beesley’s three hits and three RBI, and Gwyn Panek’s pair of triples. Maddie Westerberg added three hits, two stolen bases, and three runs scored in the close battle.
