Wayne-Finger Lakes high school sports: May 9 scoreboard

It was a loaded Friday slate across the region, with standout performances on the diamond and turf. In softball, Dundee/Bradford’s Morgan Sutryk delivered a gem in the circle, while Lyons used a big fourth inning to take control against Waterloo.

On the lacrosse field, Palmyra-Macedon’s girls and boys both continued their dominant seasons with lopsided wins, and Geneva’s girls rolled past Wayne behind a strong team effort. Gananda picked up a key win in flag football over Geneva, and Sodus baseball remained unbeaten with another elite performance.

Morgan Sutryk was nearly untouchable in the circle for the BraveScots, striking out 13 and allowing just two hits and no walks in a six-inning shutout. She also threw an immaculate inning in the second and added an RBI triple at the plate. Alex Rosno added two hits and drove in two runs.

The Lions pulled away with a six-run fourth inning, highlighted by Lydia Briggs’ two-run single and run-scoring plays from Gabby Aunkst, Baylei Reed, and Addison VanLare. Reed, Jayla Bell, Rylee Richardson, and Briggs each had multi-hit games. Keira Weber pitched a complete game, striking out nine and allowing just one earned run over seven innings. For the Tigers, Maddie Westerberg and Tangel Williams each tallied three hits, with Westerberg driving in a run.

The Red Raiders held off a late push from the Eagles in a resumed game that began earlier in the week, preserving a lead built during a rain-soaked first inning. Brianna VanHaneghan went the distance in the circle, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits while striking out four. Shelby Geer and Emmalynne Bedette each reached base twice, with Geer driving in a run and scoring once. For Wayne, Samy Ray reached base three times, while Zoe Eaton and Savannah Celso each collected two hits, including a pair of doubles.
