Woman arrested after violent domestic incident in Sennett

Deputies responding to a domestic violence call in Sennett found themselves in a physical struggle with the suspect before taking her into custody.

Gabrielle D. Hidy, 26, was arrested by members of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office on May 3 following an investigation into a reported altercation at a private residence. She was charged with unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors.

According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, Hidy engaged in a verbal and physical dispute with another individual. During the confrontation, she allegedly held the victim in a way that restricted their breathing and prevented them from escaping or calling for help. When deputies attempted to arrest her, Hidy became physically combative and began striking them. No injuries to deputies were reported.

Hidy was transported to the Public Safety Building for processing and later remanded to the Cayuga County Jail with bail set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office at 315-253-1222 or leave an anonymous tip through the SaferWatch app.
