It was a packed slate of high school sports action across the Wayne-Finger Lakes region on Thursday night, with standout performances in lacrosse, baseball, and softball.
Boys lacrosse saw several explosive offensive showings, including Midlakes/Red Jacket’s Nate Lathrop and Newark’s Evan Shulla leading their teams to victory.
On the softball fields, Lyons’ Addison VanLare and North Rose-Wolcott’s Peytin Westurn delivered monster performances at the plate. Baseball featured a key win by Midlakes over Palmyra-Macedon.

The Screaming Eagles secured a narrow win over the Red Raiders behind strong pitching and timely hitting. Ayden Klapp earned the win on the mound with four strikeouts, while Braxton Wilkes picked up the save and drove in two runs with a double. Trey Martin added an RBI on a sacrifice fly, and Jonathan Capozzi chipped in with a sac RBI. Zachary Donk, D.J. Wing, Nicholas Donk, and Jackson Nurse each recorded hits to help fuel the offense.

Addison VanLare had a standout performance for the Lions, launching two home runs and driving in eight runs, including a grand slam in a 10-run fifth inning. Rylee Richardson pitched a gem, allowing just one unearned run on one hit over five innings while striking out nine. Lyons racked up 17 hits in total, with Elise Wilkinson, Richardson, Keira Weber, Kamryn Bonnell, and Lydia Briggs each turning in multi-hit games. Makenna Fioravanti drove in the only run for the Bombers.

Peytin Westurn powered the Cougars to a tight victory with a five-hit, five-RBI performance, including a triple, double, and key single in the seventh. Bella Youells earned the win in the circle, striking out nine over seven innings while allowing four earned runs.
