Laurie Alverio of Hand In Hand In Your Home in Sodus claimed the $20,000 grand prize at the KickStart Wayne County Adult Business Pitch Competition, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Her company helps older adults live independently with personalized in-home care and plans to use the award to create a service coordination app.
Country Luxe Co., a home fragrance business, received the $5,000 Boost Award. Other finalists included Sodus Bay Bike and Adventure Co. and Anita’s Enigmas Escape Rooms, both recognized for their entrepreneurial creativity.
The event also honored student entrepreneurs, with Newark’s Matiece Miller winning for her beauty services startup. Organizers praised the competition for encouraging new business development in Wayne County.
