The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced there will be no payments issued through May 12, 2025. Retirees, disability beneficiaries, widows, and veterans must wait until May 14 for their next disbursement.
May marks one of the latest payment schedules for Social Security this year. However, retirees who began collecting benefits before May 1997 already received their checks earlier than usual—on May 2.
Special adjustments this month
In addition to the delayed payments, SSI recipients will receive two checks in May. Because June 1 falls on a Sunday, the June SSI payment will be deposited early—on May 30. That brings the total number of SSA disbursements this month to six.
