Authorities allege Matteson and other adults left the 18-year-old, who has significant physical and cognitive disabilities, without supervision or a way to seek help. Further investigation uncovered a pattern of neglect, including lack of medical care and hygiene support.

Matteson was taken to Wayne County Jail to await arraignment, and police say additional charges are pending for another adult in the home.
