A Rochester man has been charged with falsifying records after an alleged cover-up involving a physical altercation with a client at a residential care facility.
Jared Dippel, 35, was arrested following a joint investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Authorities say Dippel, who worked at a Fingerlakes DDSO home, tried to prevent his employer from discovering the incident by entering false information into the facility’s health records system.
The New York State Justice Center alerted local law enforcement in December. Dippel later turned himself in and was charged with Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree.
He was processed and released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ontario Court on May 7 at 1 p.m. The Wayne County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the case.
Statement from the NYS Justice Center
“This case underscores the need for an agency like the Justice Center working in tandem with law enforcement and district attorneys to bring justice to victims of abuse and neglect,” said Maria Lisi-Murray, Acting Executive Director of the NYS Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. “We serve as a critical advocate for individuals with special needs – ensuring each case is investigated to conclusion and collaborating with law enforcement when criminal activity is identified. We are grateful to our partners with the Wayne County Sheriff and the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office who have engaged with our team each step of the way. Thank you for your support.”
