Newfield Central School District has proposed a $26.5 million budget for 2025–26, reflecting a 4.26% increase over the previous year, according to district officials.
The plan includes a 2.5% tax levy hike and funding for a new special education program, though state aid remains uncertain as the legislature finalizes the broader state budget. Roughly two-thirds of Newfield’s funding typically comes from the state. A public budget hearing is set for May 6, with a vote scheduled for May 20.
Meanwhile, the district expects to name a new superintendent on May 1 to replace retiring leader Eric Hartz, with the transition set for July 1.
