Legal Aid sues over unpaid home care workers

The Legal Aid Society sued Public Partnerships LLC in Brooklyn federal court, alleging the company’s payroll failures have left thousands of New York home care workers unpaid, according to court documents. The case centers around the state’s recent shift of the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program’s payroll operations to PPL.

Workers report timesheet glitches, clock-outs, and jammed support lines, with advocates warning that disruptions could jeopardize care for over 250,000 New Yorkers. The lawsuit seeks back pay, penalties, and damages under labor laws.

In response, PPL emphasized its commitment to timely payments and announced extended deadlines for paper timesheets as it continues adjusting to the new system.
