A contractor has been fined over $7,000 following a fatal accident at an Auburn construction site last November, according to OSHA updates.

An employee of Fabsite Industries died after a saw kicked back while cutting granite curbs at the Cayuga Museum of History & Art.

Fabsite was fined for failing to maintain a safe work environment and for exposing workers to dangerous silica dust. Both penalties were slightly reduced in April settlements.

The accident occurred during construction for the West End Arts Campus project, which is set to celebrate its completion with a ribbon-cutting on May 2.
