Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for nearly 300,000 Super Duty trucks from the 2024 and 2025 model years due to malfunctioning fuel pumps. The defect increases the risk of stalling and loss of power while driving.

What models are affected?

The recall targets certain F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty trucks equipped with four-wheel drive, 16-inch brakes, and 17-inch wheels. These vehicles are built with a high-pressure fuel pump system that may fail under normal driving conditions.

According to Ford, the issue can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly, raising the risk of a crash. The automaker has received complaints from drivers experiencing reduced power or total shutdowns while on the road.

Fuel pump failures continue a trend

This is not the first time Ford has dealt with fuel pump issues. Similar problems have been reported as far back as 2020. In fact, Ford has led all U.S. automakers in recalls for 2025 so far, with 35 separate actions issued by the end of March.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is monitoring the recall and may open an investigation if further complaints emerge.

What Ford owners need to do

Ford dealerships will replace the faulty fuel pump components at no cost. The company will begin notifying affected customers by mail in early May 2025. Drivers can also check their vehicle’s recall status by entering their VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Until repairs are completed, owners should remain alert to signs of engine hesitation, loss of power, or warning lights.

Broader implications for Ford’s reliability

The Super Duty line is one of Ford’s most profitable and widely used vehicle categories, especially among commercial fleets and rural drivers. Repeated technical issues could damage the brand’s reputation and lead to increased scrutiny from regulators.

For the latest updates, drivers are encouraged to follow NHTSA recall alerts and consult their local dealership service center.
