Bird lovers and golf enthusiasts will come together this June to support critical conservation efforts in the Finger Lakes region.

The Montezuma Audubon Center announced it will host its annual benefit at Wayne Hills Country Club on Monday, June 9. The event will feature an 18-hole Captain and Crew golf tournament on fairways and greens recognized among Rochester’s best, along with a cocktail reception, raffles, and a dinner and awards ceremony. Proceeds will support conservation at the Montezuma Wetlands Complex, Onondaga Lake, and other Important Bird Areas across the region.

“Audubon is responding to the greatest challenges facing birds and people today while anticipating the issues—and opportunities—of tomorrow,” said Chris Lajewski, Director of Montezuma Audubon Center and Onondaga Lake Conservation Corps. “We remain focused on birds because we know their collective health reflects the health of our planet. What’s good for birds is good for the Earth.”

The day will begin with check-in at 10:30 a.m., followed by an 11:30 a.m. tee-off. The cocktail reception, featuring a cash bar, bucket raffle, wine pull, and nest box pull, will start at 4 p.m. Dinner and the awards ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. Tickets are $110 per golfer or $420 per foursome for the tournament, $70 per golfer or $260 per foursome for golf and lunch only, and $55 per person or $100 per couple for the cocktail reception and dinner alone.

In addition, an online auction will run from May 30 through June 10, offering birding tours, paddling excursions, fine wines, art, and tickets to local attractions. Registration and event sponsorship information is available online.
