Fire crews battle two-alarm blaze in Cayuga County

A multi-agency response brought a large structure fire under control Friday on Twelve Corners Road in Cayuga County after the blaze escalated from a reported chimney fire to a second alarm incident.

According to the Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire, Owasco initially responded to the scene and quickly upgraded the call to a structure fire.

As flames intensified, the chief requested a second alarm, prompting mutual aid from surrounding departments, including Fleming, Sennett, Skaneateles, Auburn, and Moravia, along with a rapid intervention team and SAVES Ambulance.

Eventually, crews successfully knocked down the fire. Investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause.

We’ll have updates as they become available throughout the day.
