  • Staff Report

A driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in Ithaca is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after police determined she was intoxicated with a young child in the car.

Elvira Good of Newfield was arrested on April 19 after Ithaca Police officers responded to a reported motor vehicle accident near North Meadow Street and Third Street. According to police, witnesses saw the driver flee the scene before officers arrived and described her as driving erratically.

Officers tracked Good to a nearby business, where they determined she was under the influence of alcohol. At the time of the incident, Good had a 5-year-old child in the vehicle with her.

Police charged Good with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, a class E felony. She also faces charges of driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, both unclassified misdemeanors. Additionally, she was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, along with multiple traffic violations.

Good was released and is scheduled to appear in Ithaca City Court at a later date.
