A routine patrol in the Town of Aurelius led to a DWI arrest after a vehicle failed to pull over early Saturday morning.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Tahj M. Cuozzo of Geneva, was stopped on April 19 around 3:13 a.m. after a Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputy observed his vehicle traveling eastbound on Clark Street Road with a non-functioning headlight and no plate lamps illuminated.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, the Deputy activated emergency lights and later the siren when the vehicle did not immediately stop. Cuozzo continued driving a short distance before coming to a halt near Half Acre Road. Deputies reported that the vehicle did not attempt to flee or accelerate during the stop.
The investigation revealed that Cuozzo was allegedly driving while intoxicated. He was taken into custody and transported to the Public Safety Building, where he provided a breath sample that registered a blood alcohol content of 0.11%.
Cuozzo was charged with violations of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law 1192(3) and 1192(2), along with other traffic infractions. He was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Town of Aurelius Court on April 23 at 7 p.m.
