The U.S. Postal Service will release three new Forever stamps commemorating the 250th anniversaries of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. The first-day-of-issue event will take place on May 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. EDT at Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., and is free and open to the public.

Stamps Mark 250 Years of Military Service
Each stamp in the series features the emblem of one of the three military branches set against a clean white background, with inscriptions reading “250 YEARS OF SERVICE,” “SINCE 1775,” and “FOREVER/USA.” Designed by USPS Art Director Antonio Alcalá, the commemorative stamps recognize the founding of the armed forces during the Revolutionary War and celebrate their legacy of service.

A Legacy Rooted in the American Revolution
The Army, Navy, and Marine Corps all originated in 1775, authorized by the Second Continental Congress during the push for American independence. Though the Continental forces were disbanded after the war, the need for a standing military led to their reestablishment and eventual development into the modern armed services.
“These stamps honor the enduring legacy and unwavering commitment of the men and women who have served and continue to serve,” said USPS Vice President of Corporate Communications Jeffery A. Adams, who will serve as the dedicating official.
Additional 250th Anniversary Stamps Released
The Postal Service is also marking America’s 250th birthday with additional stamp issues, including the Battlefields of the American Revolution series. These stamps feature historic locations and illustrations of five pivotal battles: Lexington and Concord, Bunker Hill, Trenton, Saratoga, and Yorktown.
Together, these collections celebrate not only the nation’s founding but the people and institutions who have defended it across generations.
