Governor Kathy Hochul on Friday announced a tentative three-year contract agreement between New York State and the New York State Police Investigators Association, covering over 1,100 investigators and senior investigators tasked with probing major crimes.
The agreement, which runs from April 1, 2023, through March 31, 2026, is subject to ratification by union members.
“Public safety is my number one priority, and our State Police investigators play a key role in holding criminals accountable and keeping New Yorkers safe,” Hochul said. “This fair contract recognizes the many sacrifices State Police investigators make on a daily basis.”
The investigators, members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, conduct undercover surveillance and tackle some of the most serious criminal threats across the state.
William Diaz, Vice President and Acting President of the New York State Police Investigators Association, praised the deal. “We appreciate the tireless efforts of the Governor’s Office and Division of the State Police working with the NYSPIA negotiating committee to bring this tentative contract agreement together,” Diaz said. “The men and women of the BCI pursue the most dangerous criminals in the world and they are deserving of a fair contract that provides improved benefits and working conditions as outlined in this tentative agreement.”
The deal includes annual pay raises consistent with other recent public sector agreements, along with a lump-sum bonus and up to 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave. It also introduces changes to the health insurance program aimed at encouraging in-network provider use to manage healthcare costs.
