The USDA has confirmed the SNAP payment schedule for May 2025, giving millions of Americans a clearer picture of when their EBT cards will be reloaded.
SNAP, also known as food stamps, helps low-income families afford groceries each month. Benefit payments follow a state-issued schedule, usually based on the last digits of a case number, Social Security number, or first letter of the recipient’s last name.

When Will You Get Your May SNAP Benefits?
Here’s a look at how each state plans to distribute May 2025 SNAP benefits:
States With Benefits Distributed From May 1–10:
- Alabama – May 4 to 23
- California – May 1 to 10
- Colorado – May 1 to 10
- Florida – May 1 to 28
- Illinois – May 1 to 10
- New York (excluding NYC) – May 1 to 9
- Texas – May 1 to 28
States That Send All Benefits on a Single Day:
- Alaska – May 1
- Vermont – May 1
- Rhode Island – May 1
- North Dakota – May 1
✅ States With Rolling Distribution Dates:
- Georgia – May 5 to 23
- Kentucky – May 1 to 19
- Louisiana – May 1 to 23
- Missouri – May 1 to 22
- North Carolina – May 3 to 21
- Pennsylvania – May 1 to 10

- Virginia – May 1 to 7

What’s New: Summer EBT for Kids in 2025
In addition to the regular monthly benefits, the federal government is rolling out a new Summer EBT program for eligible children.
Families that qualify will receive $40 per child, per month during the summer to help cover meals when school is out. The Summer EBT benefits will be delivered through each state’s existing EBT system.
To qualify, children must be:
- Eligible for free or reduced-price school meals
- Enrolled in participating schools or SNAP households
States will begin issuing these benefits in June and July, with some sending payments automatically and others requiring sign-up.
How to Check Your Balance and Payment Date
To confirm when your May SNAP benefits arrive, check your balance using your state’s EBT portal or call the number on the back of your EBT card.
