A Seneca Falls man has been sentenced to two years in prison for fatally beating a woman’s dog in Cayuga County, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Brandon Carlson, 39, pleaded guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals after the November 2023 incident in Springport. Prosecutors say he inflicted fatal head trauma on the dog, then moved the body to make it appear the animal was hit by a car.
Officials emphasized their commitment to swiftly prosecuting animal abuse cases and holding offenders fully accountable.
