The New York State Golf Association has named Joseph Mancuso as its new General Counsel, bringing aboard a seasoned attorney with a deep-rooted passion for the game and years of corporate legal experience.
Mancuso, a member at Onondaga Golf and Country Club and a partner at Hancock Estabrook, LLP, will join the NYSGA’s Executive Committee. He will provide legal oversight to support the organization’s mission of fostering golf across New York State.
“As a lifelong player and supporter of the game of golf, I am excited and honored by the opportunity to serve as General Counsel and an officer on the Executive Committee of the NYSGA,” Mancuso said. “I look forward to furthering the organization’s mission of promoting and conserving the traditions of golf throughout the State, and I am eager to apply my years of legal experience and club management to the benefit of the NYSGA.”
At Hancock Estabrook, Mancuso serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and practices in the Banking & Finance and Corporate sectors. He was recently named Syracuse’s 2024 “Lawyer of the Year” for Corporate Law and has been featured on the Best Lawyers in America list for five consecutive years.
NYSGA President Jamie Miller welcomed Mancuso to the leadership team, citing his strong legal credentials and personal investment in golf. “We’re excited to welcome Joe to the NYSGA board in this crucial role,” Miller said. “His proven legal acumen, leadership experience and passion for the game make him an ideal fit to help guide our efforts moving forward.”
Mancuso has a long history with Onondaga G&CC, where he previously served on the board and held the position of President. During his tenure, the club hosted the 2022 New York State Men’s Amateur Championship in coordination with the NYSGA.
He succeeds Peter Jones of Drumlins Country Club, who served as General Counsel for several years. The NYSGA extended its appreciation to Jones for his longstanding dedication and contributions.
