Christy Bianconi, a veteran social worker and Ithaca resident, is running unopposed to represent District 14 on the Tompkins County Legislature, according to The Ithaca Voice. A Democrat with Working Families Party support, she seeks to replace Amanda Champion, who is not seeking re-election.
Bianconi, who manages clinical quality for an online mental health service, has worked at every level of government, including with crisis teams and vulnerable populations across New York. She wants to improve county mental health services and address staff burnout.
She also prioritizes housing affordability and reducing “unfunded mandates” from Albany, which she says strain county finances. Tompkins County’s primary election is scheduled for June 24.
