A U.S. House committee is urging Gov. Kathy Hochul to testify on New York’s sanctuary policies and provide related records by April 24, according to the Times Union.
The request is part of a broader Republican-led investigation into how state-level protections for undocumented immigrants may obstruct federal immigration enforcement. Hochul was asked to address a 2017 executive order that limits state cooperation with civil immigration proceedings.
The inquiry coincides with a federal lawsuit challenging New York’s Green Light Law, which restricts ICE access to DMV records. Hochul maintains her administration supports deporting those who pose threats but opposes family separations seen under previous federal crackdowns.
