New Yorkers are being urged to check their refrigerators after Cabot Creamery recalled over 1,700 pounds of its sea salted Extra Creamy Premium Butter in seven states, according to the FDA. The recall was issued after elevated levels of coliform bacteria, which can indicate fecal contamination, were detected.
Although the FDA classified the recall as low-risk for health, consumers are advised to discard or return affected products. Cabot’s parent company, Agri-Mark, said only 17 packages made it to stores—primarily in Vermont—and that 99.5% of the product was recovered.
The recalled butter comes in two 4-ounce sticks and can be identified by a best-by date of Sept. 9, 2025, and lot number 090925-055. No illnesses have been reported.
