Residents of the Town of Canandaigua can take home free tree seedlings next month as part of a long-running Arbor Day tradition.
The Town of Canandaigua Republican Committee will hold its 13th annual tree seedling giveaway on Saturday, May 3, beginning at 8 a.m. The event will take place at the Town’s Transfer Station and is open to all town residents. Seedlings will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Planting and care instructions will be provided, and organizers recommend planting the seedlings within two days to prevent root damage. To date, approximately 4,700 trees have been given away through the annual event.
This year’s seedlings were donated by Town Board member David Sauter and Dr. Margaret Hollister.
