A Penn Yan man was arrested following a reported theft at a local village business.
Police say Barry A. Lampson, 66, was taken into custody after video surveillance showed him stealing merchandise before purchasing other items at the register.
According to the Penn Yan Police Department, officers recovered video evidence that led them to identify Lampson. He was brought to the police department, where officers found him in possession of one of the stolen items.
Lampson was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree. He was processed and released on an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
