Auburn police seek public’s help identifying suspect in grand larceny case

Auburn police are asking for the public’s help identifying a person of interest linked to a grand larceny at Planet Fitness and an attempted credit card fraud at Walmart on March 25.

According to a media release issued by Officer K. Tillapaugh, the individual was captured on Walmart security cameras around 2:24 p.m. The person is seen leaving the store shortly after allegedly attempting to use a stolen credit card connected to a theft at the nearby fitness center.

The Auburn Police Department is actively investigating the case and seeking to identify the suspect. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Officer Tillapaugh by email at [email protected]. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the department’s website at www.auburnny.gov/policedepartment.

The department released a still image from the surveillance footage in hopes the public can assist in identifying the suspect. No further details were provided about the nature of the theft or the attempted transaction.
