The U.S. Postal Service is set to unveil a new set of Goodnight Moon stamps during a special ceremony on May 2, 2025, at The Rabbit hOle, a museum dedicated to American children’s literature in North Kansas City, Missouri. This launch commemorates the timeless bedtime classic just days before Children’s Book Week (May 5–11), honoring the cultural legacy of one of the best-selling children’s books of all time.

What Are the Goodnight Moon Stamps?
The Goodnight Moon Forever stamps feature charming scenes from the 1947 picture book by Margaret Wise Brown, illustrated by Clement Hurd. Designed by USPS art director Derry Noyes, the pane captures the book’s dreamy rhythm and gentle illustrations that have comforted generations of readers.
Each Forever stamp will always retain its value equal to the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce price, making these stamps not only collectible but functional.
“Goodnight Moon allows children to imagine themselves in the cozy bedroom of a young bunny, saying good night to everything they see,” the Postal Service noted in its announcement.

Why Goodnight Moon Still Matters
First published by Harper & Brothers in 1947, Goodnight Moon quickly became a staple of bedtime routines. Its soothing, poetic text and evocative illustrations gradually fade from light to dark, mimicking a child’s slow descent into sleep.
Notable lines like:
“Goodnight clocks / And goodnight socks. Goodnight little house / And goodnight mouse.”
have become etched in the memories of parents and children alike. Today, Goodnight Moon continues to rank among the bestselling children’s books worldwide, celebrating over 75 years in print.
