Hazmat drill to bring emergency crews to Cornell

A hazmat training exercise will bring a notable emergency presence to Cornell University’s campus this Wednesday. The drill, running from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., will be centered around the S.T. Olin Chemistry Research Building, near several key science facilities on the north edge of central campus.

The event is scheduled during Cornell’s Spring Break to limit disruption. It’s being coordinated by Cornell’s Environment, Health & Safety department alongside local agencies, including the Ithaca Fire Department, Bangs Ambulance, and New York State’s Homeland Security department.

Students and staff who typically use that route should plan to take alternate paths while the area is active with responders.
