Cayuga County man indicted after year-long child exploitation investigation

A Cayuga County man faces more than 20 felony charges following a year-long child exploitation investigation led by New York State Police.

Gregory Flynn, 38, of Sterling, was arrested last Friday after a grand jury indicted him on 23 felony counts related to child sexual abuse material. Authorities say the investigation began on March 20, when State Police in Auburn received a Cyber Tipline report from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

On May 29, investigators executed a search warrant at Flynn’s home on Juniper Hill Road. The Troop E Computer Crimes Unit seized multiple devices for forensic examination. Police say those devices were found to contain Child Sexual Abuse Material.

According to investigators, the Cyber Tipline sent additional reports after the initial search, which led police to uncover more material. The full investigation wrapped earlier this year, and the case was presented to a Cayuga County grand jury on February 5.

Flynn was indicted on 19 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and four counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child. He was processed at SP Auburn before being taken to the Cayuga County Jail, where he remains pending arraignment.
