Cornell dominated in all facets of the game, securing a 15-5 victory over Penn on Saturday afternoon at Schoellkopf Field. The top-ranked Big Red improved to 7-1 (3-0 Ivy), while the Quakers fell to 4-6 (1-2 Ivy).
Cornell wasted no time taking control, jumping out to a 4-0 lead before Penn got on the board. The Big Red responded with eight unanswered goals, extending their advantage to 12-1 early in the third quarter. From there, they maintained their grip on the game, earning their third consecutive win.
Michael Long led the way with four goals and two assists, while CJ Kirst added two goals and three assists. Ryan Waldman recorded a hat trick, and Ryan Goldstein contributed two goals, two assists, and five ground balls. Hugh Kelleher, Willem Firth, and Ryan Sheehan each had a goal and an assist.
Defensively, Brendan Staub forced two turnovers and scooped four ground balls in front of goalkeeper Wyatt Knust, who made 12 saves, nine in the second half. Jack Cascadden won 12-of-19 faceoffs, giving Cornell valuable extra possessions.
