Ocean State Job Lot is acquiring 15 former Big Lots locations, including one in Dansville, as the discount chain liquidates assets amid bankruptcy. The new store at 10 Village Plaza is set to open by early summer, with up to 70 jobs available. Current Big Lots employees will be offered positions.
The Rhode Island-based retailer, known for its bargain pricing and wide product selection, is expanding into new markets as part of its growth strategy. Dansville is one of two New York locations being converted, alongside Liverpool.
The move follows Big Lots’ bankruptcy, which led to the sale of store leases to various retailers.
