Expecting and new parents in Livingston County will have a chance to connect with local resources at a free community baby shower on April 16. The event, hosted by the Livingston County Department of Health, will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the building one conference center on the county’s Murray Hill Campus in Mount Morris.
The baby shower will offer a variety of services and support for families at all stages of parenting. More than 10 community organizations will be present to share information, provide car seat safety checks, and connect families with helpful programs. No registration is required to attend.
The event is a collaboration between several county programs, including Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Lead Poisoning Prevention, Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN), and the Perinatal Infant Community Health Collaborative (PICHC). Organizers aim to celebrate parents, guardians, and caregivers by offering raffles, giveaways, and fun activities.
Attendees will have the chance to win gas gift cards, nursing pillows, electric toothbrushes, pack and plays, goody bags, and children’s clothing. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office will also issue kids’ ID badges, and children can take part in games and face painting throughout the event.
Community partners participating in the baby shower include Mosaic Health, Healthy Families, Child Care Council, Cornell Cooperative Extension Livingston County, KidStart, SUNY Geneseo Bus Stop, Fidelis Care, and several county health and support organizations.
The Health Department provides year-round resources for new and expecting families, including WIC, CYSHCN, Lead Poisoning Prevention, PICHC, and Pre-K programs. More information is available on the department’s website or by calling 585-243-7299.
