Syracuse point guard Kyle Cuffe Jr. has entered the transfer portal, as reported by On3’s Joe Tipton.
Cuffe, a redshirt junior, joined the Orange in 2023 after transferring from Kansas and appeared in 59 games. He is the first Syracuse player to enter the portal this offseason.
Early in the season, Cuffe saw limited action but became a key reserve during Atlantic Coast Conference play. With J.J. Starling sidelined due to injury, head coach Adrian Autry relied on Cuffe as an additional ball handler. He averaged 5.1 points per game, shooting 33% overall and 30% from three-point range. His standout performance came on Dec. 31 against Wake Forest, where he scored a career-high 14 points in 36 minutes.
Cuffe’s first season with Syracuse was impacted by injuries. After battling injuries during his time at Kansas, he suffered a hand injury that sidelined him for a month. He finished the season averaging 3.2 points in 10.7 minutes per game.
With Cuffe’s departure, the only Syracuse guards with remaining eligibility are J.J. Starling and Elijah Moore, leaving questions about the team’s backcourt depth for the upcoming season.
